Wishing All Selamat Hari Raya Haji
Hari Raya Haji commemorates Prophet Ibrahim’s (Abraham’s) complete faith and trust in God. Hari Raya Haji also called “Festival of the Sacrifice” which celebrated by Muslims worldwide each year. This is recounted in the story of God commanding Ibrahim to sacrifice his son Ismail. He follows the command but God stopped him and provide him a sheep to substitute the sacrifice of his son.
How does it celebrate?
Muslims celebrate Hari Raya Haji by rising early to pray at the mosque and listen to sermons. They wear new clothes, visiting families and friends, relax over a meat-heavy meal on the day. During this festival, the Muslims share the wealth and remembering all the blessings. A goat or cow may be sacrificed, they might give the meat or some money to the needy so they can celebrate Hari Raya Haji as well.
Moreover, Muslims will decorate mosques with beautiful lights and enjoying the day with gifts exchange activities. Malaysia is a multicultural country, so the Non-Muslims are invited to meals as a way to introduce the Islamic culture and maintain a good relationship among different races.
We wishing all Muslims to have a happy Hari Raya Haji! Enjoy the meaningful day with your beloved family and friends. Happy Holiday!
